<p>STOP RIGHT THERE AND PUT AWAY THE UMBRELLA!</p>
<p>Okay, okay, true, right now&#8230;you&#8217;re probably asking yourself:</p>

<p>Why, the umbrella to shield you from all the financial crashings that&#8217;s going on at various/sundry spots in the world, of course.</p>
<p>Think about it.&nbsp; Unless you&#8217;ve turned into a fossilized clam and are currently residing in <span id="more-1479"></span> the Pre-Cambrian strata in the Grand Canyon, you&#8217;ve probably caught <strike>hurricane of</strike> wind of the problems that are besetting the world economy.&nbsp;</p>
<blockquote><p><span style="font-size: larger;"><i><b>And while that&#8217;s agonizing in the extreme, it doesn&#8217;t begin to touch upon the hell that you&#8217;ll soon experience should your recruiting business dry up faster than ice cream melts in the microwave.</b></i></span></p></blockquote>
<p>So!&nbsp; Are you preparing for the devastation your business will shortly encounter?</p>
<blockquote><p><span style="font-size: larger;"><i><b>(and yes, I know the above is not definite&#8230;but forewarned is fore-prepared.&nbsp; Or something like that).</b></i></span></p></blockquote>
<p>Here are some ideas that might help.</p>
<hr />
<h3><img height="38" width="78" border="0" align="left" src="/images/arrow.jpg" alt="NOTE!" />Idea 1.)&nbsp; Take stock of your industry.</h3>
<p>Is your industry one in which there will always be interest, ie, sex?&nbsp; (yes, the adult industry is always booming&#8230;and I&#8217;ll bet that the huge names residing there engage the services of recruiters as well).&nbsp; Or perhaps:</p>
<ul>
<li><b>Health/fitness/pampering</b> -&nbsp; Even in down times, people will still focus on number 1&#8230;.and wise individuals know the benefits of keeping the inner fires stoked.</li>
<li><b>Blue-collar service</b> &#8211; People will still need their cars serviced, their home&#8217;s electrical wiring operational, their hair cut, their bodies clothed&#8230;. business in this area should stay stable.</li>
<li><b>Health care</b> &#8211; Americans today eat worse than ever; healthcare will always be a need.</li>
<li><b>Utilities</b> &#8211; The energy industries will still be required to keep the lights on&#8230;and thus require skilled employees in that area.</li>
<li><b>Debt collection/Bankruptcy</b> &#8211; Need I say more?</li>
<li><b>Luxury</b> &#8211; Super-rich people are smart enough to have diversified their income.&nbsp; Thus, their cravings for luxuries will remain unbated&#8230;.can you <a href="http://www.risetrends.com/blog/recruiterproducts" style="" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" onmouseover="self.status='http://www.risetrends.com/blog/recruiterproducts';return true;" onmouseout="self.status=''">recruiter</a> superstar sales folk in the luxury industry?</li>
</ul>
<p>If your industry is one that the economy decimates, you can always turn on a dime and become a subject matter expert in another, more profitable field.</p>
<p>Got that?&nbsp; Okay, now jump to:</p>

<h3><img height="38" width="78" border="0" align="left" src="/images/arrow.jpg" alt="NOTE!" />Idea 2.)&nbsp; Take stock of your emotions</h3>
<p>A smushed economy is a scary economy.&nbsp; There&#8217;s nothing wrong with acknowledging fear and worry&#8230;there&#8217;s even nothing wrong with angsting powerfully over it for a few hours or two.</p>
<p>Honor your fears and honor your emotions by WORKING THRU the blasted things.&nbsp;</p>
<blockquote><p><span style="font-size: larger;"><i><b>Human nature being what it is&#8230;.failing to recognize and deal with negative worries will only cause you more stress than skydiving without a parachute.</b></i></span></p></blockquote>
<p>I&#8217;m not telling you to bury yourself under your comforter for the next 17 months of course&#8230;.but I AM telling you, take the time to experience your worries and apprehension and then&#8230;.</p>
<blockquote><p><span style="font-size: larger;"><i><b>Let them go.</b></i></span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Thus, the next time you find yourself tempted to panic, you can remember&#8230;.I already went thru this exercise!&nbsp;</p>
</blockquote>
<p style="margin-left: 40px;"><i><span style="font-size: larger;"><b>This lets your inner voice concentrate upon surviving and thriving, instead of dreading and trembling.</b></span></i></p>
<p>Remember &#8211; you CANNOT (you really can&#8217;t!) control how the economy happens&#8230;but you CAN control how you CHOOSE to react.</p>
<p>And that can make all the difference.</p>
<p>Next,</p>

<h3><img height="38" width="78" border="0" align="left" src="/images/arrow.jpg" alt="NOTE!" />Idea 3.)&nbsp; Take stock of your family</h3>
<p>Work is delightful and work is peachy but work pales next to your family.&nbsp; Keep them abreast of what you&#8217;re going thru!&nbsp; Nobody has ever passed Mind Reading 101&#8230;.so sharing your current adventures and telling your family, Okay!&nbsp; This is where we&#8217;re at, here&#8217;s the changes we&#8217;re going to make, etc.etc.etc&#8230;..can go a long way towards not only making YOU feel more in control, but also keeping your family dynamics tilted towards the positive aspect.</p>
<p>&#8216;course, you should always discuss with your spouse first prior to finalizing any decisions.</p>
<p>And finally,</p>

<h3><img height="38" width="78" border="0" align="left" src="/images/arrow.jpg" alt="NOTE!" />Idea 4.)&nbsp; Take stock of your personal inner spirit</h3>
<p>Ever notice how your work shines with beauty and bottom line profits when you&#8217;re completely focused and determined to succeed no matter what?</p>
<blockquote><p><span style="font-size: larger;"><i><b>A squooshed inner spirit can really destroy that possibility.</b></i></span></p></blockquote>
<p>Thus, take time to treat yourself right!&nbsp;</p>
<p>Give yourself permission to indulge in:</p>
<ul>
<li><b>&quot;Me time&quot; </b>-&nbsp; <i>time in which you rejuvenate your spirits&#8230;.my &quot;me time&quot; is spent working out and sparring in karate</i></li>
<li><b>Personal treats for relaxing</b> &#8211; <i>Coffee, chocolate, chili-pepper soup&#8230;.</i></li>
<li><b>Music</b> &#8211; <i>music that speaks to your spirit generally soothes your psyche and allows you to unwind</i></li>
<li><b>Friends</b> &#8211; <i>good friends are great sounding boards off of which to share.</i></li>
</ul>
<p>Yes, the economy is going to heck in a handbasket&#8230;but that doesn&#8217;t mean you have to crash alongside with the ride!</p>
<p>Be proactive and honor your abilities.&nbsp; Your future bottom line will thank you for it.</p>

<p><i>&#8230;The company doesn&#8217;t get hurt. I am actually helping THEM too! I didn&#8217;t hold a gun to the candidate&#8217;s head. He/she had a reason to listen to me in the 1st place. That person was going to leave anyway.</i></p>
<p><i>&#8230;I took some of my own advice and started cold calling&#8230;low and behold I drummed up some new biz!</i></p>
<p><i>&#8230;Think about it &#8211; the people you and I chase everyday are not likely to become unemployed any time soon &#8211; but they are likely to require a whole different set of skill sets than what many recruiters possess today. Meaning&#8230;recruiters are going to have to sharpen their sales skills&#8230;..</i></p>
