Morning!
If you’re a serious recruiter, by all means….you want to take part in the social networking scene.
How’s that for a wishy-washy statement?
It’s sipmly good business sense – not only are your candidates already enjoying the benefits Facebook offers, but your clients probably use social networking as well!
And get this – lots of recruiters will happily share tips and tricks regarding recruiting with Facebook. Here are some of the resources I’ve found online for you:
- Cheezhead Wiki Facebook Recruiting Tips
- Direct Recruiting via Facebook
- Facebook coworkers and profile search
- Facebook, LinkedIn Are Prime Recruiting Grounds
- Facebook Workplaces
- My Company’s Hiring Facebook App
- Recruiting Scenarios for MySpace and Facebook
- Recruiting The Facebook Generation
The above is an excellent introduction for how recruiters can use Facebook. And I’d certainly be remiss if I didn’t point you to:
But an opportunity now arises!
How can YOU beef up your Facebook usage to help sell your services as a recruiter to your potential network in the first place?
Simple! Showcase your talents and business insights, of course.
One of the easiest ways to do this is to publish your blog posts every day to your Facebook profile. You can see how I do this on my own Facebook profile over HERE.
What’s the effect of this? Well, in the first place…potential candidates and clients get to see your knowledge about the industry. Let’s say that you recruit in the Medical Devices niche – you could follow current Medical Device news and every few days, blog about your take on it. You could even set up a Google News alert regarding your favorite Medical Devices site/company and be proactively alerted whenever breaking news happens….giving you a chance to be the first one to report it.
Remember, there are probably 493 (at least!) other recruiters in your field! What makes you so special that job seekers would consider your services FIRST and foremost?
Being able to demonstrate a good understanding of the candidates’ work field is definitely a great way to begin.
Enjoy,
Barbara Ling
