Ever have an insane urge to find resumes for free on the Internet?
Sure, you could look for html resumes (and those are most spiffy indeed)….but did you realize you can also search for:
- Microsoft Doc resumes
- Power point resumes
- PDF resumes
- Shockwave resumes
and the like?
It’s quite easy, actually! You simply have to use the filetype: tag in your search queries.
Here are some filetypes currently available:
- Adobe Portable Document Format (pdf)
- Adobe PostScript (ps)
- Asp (asp)
- Lotus 1-2-3 (wk1, wk2, wk3, wk4, wk5, wki, wks, wku)
- Lotus WordPro (lwp)
- MacWrite (mw)
- Microsoft Excel (xls)
- Microsoft PowerPoint (ppt)
- Microsoft Word (doc)
- Microsoft Works (wks, wps, wdb)
- Microsoft Write (wri)
- Php (php)
- Rich Text Format (rtf)
- Shockwave Flash (swf)
- Text (ans, txt)
Let’s say you want to find resumes in common filetypes:
(filetype:doc OR filetype:pdf OR filetype:txt OR filetype:wps OR filetype:asp) resume

(filetype:doc OR filetype:pdf OR filetype:txt OR filetype:wps OR filetype:asp) resume java XML
and then localize it:
It can be very helpful indeed.
And here’s another idea! Think about this:
Professionals will often put up tutorials or presentations in Powerpoint. If you’re looking for a particular skill, simply look for presentations on it… and then contact the author. For example:
You can see a good quick reference to this at my RISE Recruiting Cheat Cheat for Beginners Google.
Neat, huh?
