Free resumes

Morning!

Quick!  Ever get an insane urge to find free resumes from Google?

And did that ever lead you to something like the following?

Well!  I certainly do have news for you.

Finding free resumes online is simple if indeed…you know HOW to think about your goals and HOW to ask Google.

I created an entire seminar about finding passive candidates on Google that you can check out at

Passive Candidate Sourcing Seminar

but in the meanwhile, allow me please give you some neato tips on finding free resumes online.

You see, Google allowsyou to search within both the TITLE (ie, the title tag of a document) and the URL (file location of the document) as well.  Thus, you can set your queries to look for:

  • Files that contain the word ‘resume’ or ‘cv’ in the title

AND/OR

  • Files that contain the word ‘resume’ or ‘cv’ in the URL

But that’s not enough!  You also want to zero in on industry specific keywords like CPA, OOD, crane certification, as well!  Plus, you also want to narrow your searches to specific areas via telephone area codes, zip codes, state abbreviations and the like.

I wrote up a brief hotsheet regarding Google search operators – you can download it for free over at

It’s free, it’s nifty, and you can can share it with your friends!

But you know…it’s not only about finding free resumes.  After all, finding them is easy….it’s what you DO with them once you get them that’s truly important.

My eseminar Passive Candidate Sourcing Seminar goes into that in great detail because, let’s face it – you want to build a network with all these passive candidates you’re finding, you do NOT want to cause them to delete any emails you might send.

Other sites to learn about how to make Google sing for you include:

In addition, if you want THE cutting edge of sourcing, do check out Jim Stroud’s The Searchologist – Utterly brilliant guy!  I can highly recommend his offerings.

In closing, finding free resumes online is like learning to add and subtrack.  You add the criteria you want to find, and take away the words that smooshilate your search.

And once you’ve mastered that….the resumes will come a’flowing.

Ain’t that great?  :)

Enjoy,

Barbara Ling
