The secret for successful Internet recruiting
Recruiter marketing compels others to promote *you*
⇒⇒ Recruiter Marketing Lets You....Build your own personal and private candidate/client funnel... that constantly gets the word out about you with no extra effort on your own. Make no mistake about it. As a career, recruiting can be defined in two words and two words only - "Sterling customer service"! Okay that was three words, but my point still remains. When your customers are happy, they'll tell their friends about you. That's the good news. But what if you could get people to spread the word about you...even if they're not yet active customers (candidates or clients)? That's recruiter marketing. Take my example above of friends telling friends about your services. How can they do that? I mean, let's face the facts...said friends probably aren't in job-seeking mode yet, right? But I'll bet they're still in "earn money to survive" mode. So! You can give online visitors specific reasons for them to alert their friends...without it seeming to be a commercial venture. How? By recruiter marketing. By providing resources that make your recruiting website an authority site...one that is proactively shared among your future passive candidates. You can even tweak the model and do the same thing for clients as well! What else does recruiter marketing involve? Consider: Recruiter Career EzinesThink now like your candidates. You visit a recruiter website, look around, go "my that's interesting" and then leave. Would you return? I certainly doubt it in that case! But! Now consider - you visit a recruiter website and are encouraged to sign up for a FREE career ezine...one that sends out an email every week that's replete with career-specific tips and growth ideas. Now, here's the supercalifragilisticexpialidocious news about the above. You can configure an autoresponder that will automatically send out these career ezine issues once a week...day in, day out! All you have to do is write the content, add it to your broadcasts, and voila...you now have a valuable tool that continously emphasizes your brand to your candidates' minds. Think about it.. If you were a passive candidate and all of a sudden decided to look for better opportunities... which is the recruiter you'd choose? The one from the phonebook or the one from whom you've been receiving useful career/industry tips for the past year? Well? That's one aspect of effective recruiter marketing. I do that myself - you'll notice that every page on this site has a direct link for your to sign up for my free recruiters ezine. I encourage you to sign up yourself - you'll see just how effective it is (and receive great recruiting tips as well!). Another aspect of successful recruiter marketing is: Social Networks MarketingThe times, they have a'changed since the early 2000s! Blogs and social networking are all the rage nowadays. If people want their voices to be heard, all they need to do is join a social networking site or start a blog and post away. People are not only gaining massive popularity in this fashion, but they're also even starting their own job boards! Think about this - if you're a, say, technical recruiter, your candidates probably know about Tech Crunch. It's a very popular blog by Michael Arrington. Did you know he now lets recruiters and companies post jobs at Crunchboard? Now I ask you. If you're a techie person and you religiously read TechCrunch, what's the natural place to look for jobs? Well? And now the real killer question... Do you know how to find and network at these sites? And social networking....wow, what a tremendous resource!! Sites like LinkedIn and MySpace are sheer gold for recruiters - the former for the professional contacts and the latter for the chatting/networking/"gee did you know" contacts. Recruiter marketing can also include: Recruiter BlogsThink a blog is just for posting your thoughts and comments? Think again! Every time you post to a blog, that page can get indexed in search engines. Thus, the more you post, the better the chances are that your targeted clients and candidates will find you. A challenge arises, however. Posting relevant job-related content day in and day out is, well, really time consuming. You would probably get much higher returns if you used that time for active recruiting! But did you know...there are tools that let you set up a schedule to automatically post to your blogs? Let's say you are a food industry recruiter - you could simply set up a blog, make the main category "Industry News" and then just automatically post news updates. Of course, you'd design your blog so that each page has direct resources for your own customer services too! Want an example? I always practice what I preach - check out my RISE Recruiter Blog. In almost all cases, the posts are simply recruiter-related news...posts that also highlight all that RISE has to offer. Another super technique of Recruiter Marketing is: Becoming An Authority SiteAuthority sites are places where people go to get targeted, in-depth knowledge about their industry/niche. RISE-trained recruiters know how to build a robust candidate/client resource center... one that provides direct access to their interests yet also serves to brand the recruiter in the mind of the visitor. When future clients/candidates find your resource center, it's second nature for them to tell their friends...who would then tell their friends as well. Luckily, it's extremely easy to build up a quality resource site into a sturdy authority site! I should know - I've been walking this walk ever since I started training recruiters (go check out the resources listed in the left column at my 1999 RISE site). And you can see my recruiters resource center at my RISE library to boot (please do feel free to share that with your colleagues!). Are you beginning to see the power the Internet has to offer you as a recruiter? You don't have to only depend upon yourself for publicity... you can tap into the unimaginable wealth of online promotion as well. By now, I'll bet you're rather intrigued with all the goodies RISE training has to offer you. Other companies train in Internet recruiting...but the individual names in recruiting training are few and far between. Because I *am RISE, let me give you some background about me...and exactly why you'll find RISE recruiter training to be one of the best investments you'll ever make.
